UPSC And Misconception Of Smart Work

 People like our teacher and parents usually suggests competitive students study in smart ways.
Even my sister one day said that "do hard work with smartness to crack competitive exams". These people compelled me to inspect and investigate "Smart Work". I was wondering that what does this term mean "Smart Way". I have gone through various sources such as listened interviews of selected students, mentors and scholars. And what I found is really interesting and I thought that every aspirant of UPSC must be aware of the reality of this term.


To understand a smart way of working or having a specific strategy to achieve a goal. There are two important prescriptions, one, first, we require deep, comprehensive and thorough knowledge and procedure of conducting the exams by the government authority. Second, we have to look at the past scenario of the exams which is the most essential, crucial and imperative to succeed in this exam. You might be aware of both the aforementioned important and necessary prerequisite to clear this exam.


Smart students are really those ones who have both capacity and capability to capture the right resources at the right time as well as studying in a way which helps them to grasp the concept within the required time limit.


Especially smart work requires three important exceptional abilities, the first is critical thinking every student have to go through the topic which is compulsory(GS) and which they aspire(Optional) to study and think on topics in diverse areas. Second, debating, although debate always has three outcomes, thesis means argument, anti-thesis means counter-argument and finally, synthesis coordination of both that is the conclusion. Third, writing abilities is the soul of this exam, for instance, you have studied your entire syllabus, revised and retained and become expert, but your this intellect would give you expected result only when you would aware of the right format, presentation and displaying of your knowledge to the examiner.


If one would look at the required structure of answer writing in the exam, it requires these three necessary, paramount and indispensable technique and strategy to realize the potential of a  hardworking aspirant.


I think to some extent we have discussed primary sources and the basic precondition of this exam and smart work. Now we have to move further towards the more complicated procedure that is 'pretending' and 'perceiving' of aspirants regarding this exam.


First, we will discuss Pretending during our interviews time we usually act like we knew everything, its obvious to every aspirant who qualified two stages of the exam. But keep in mind, if you have cleared two stages, it means you are at crossroads even your one silly mistake would have the capacity to vanish your goal of selection. Having patience at this juncture would ultimately lead you towards your dream, ambition and mission.


Second thing Perceiving, two facets of this term is you have to be very cautious and alert while performing in front of your mentor and examiner. You yourself do not develop any concept regarding any question, people usually to impress examiner trying to answer differently and uniquely to pretend that 'I'm unique and have distinct thought and idea'. Sometimes it helps and becomes complements to our success, but mostly it fails and brings disastrous consequence. Second facets, what examiner perceiving is totally unexpected for an aspirant, so perform naturally. Since we are all aware that nature always returns a positive result, even when sometime we hurt it by polluting.


One request, appeal and prayer to every aspirant of this exam, please don't confine yourself within the four walls. Interact, communicate and interchange your thoughts, ideas and opinion to your colleague, friends and peer-group that would help you to cultivate and develop more unique thoughts and constantly increase the ambit of your knowledge, and helps you to attain new heights of understanding and intellect.


I conclude that every student is naturally smart. They do not require any certificate, authorization and verification from various shops selling the degrees of smartness. These are totally flawed, absurd and exaggerated misconception develop by few education sellers. They are trying to trap our knowledge, brainpower and proficiency by creating rumours and bringing new concept with the old word (Smart Work).
