Dalit, Untouchability & Brutality
Recently, there were two incidents horrifically recorded in two Hindi heartland states Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Both incidents were very painful, inhuman and immoral in Gandhi's India.
From time to time, Dalits were being felt marginalised by few ignorants, illiterate and nasty people in our country. These people still think that Dalits are untouchable and if touched by them, they will become impure. These absurd and exaggerated reasons for boycotting Dalits from social life is vague in the 21st century.
There were several reasons and conception which has been developed from ancient times regarding Dalits is showing some glimpses even in this century. The incidents which are happening in our country in this era is totally unacceptable, unnatural and unsuitable for civilized nations.
Such incidents need to be curbed at large scale by including other stakeholders, just like the first and foremost one by education, the teacher should be trained and skilled in a positive, inclusive and secular manner. They have to behave with children, neutrally on sensitive issues like religion, caste, politics and treat children very sympathetically and compassionately. Does not let the children realise that they belong to untouchable caste.
There have been instances found that teachers hands brooms to children belonging to lower caste and realising them that they are destined to do such works.
Second, comes the role of Family, sometimes children from upper caste taught in their homes that not to make friends or interact with lower caste peoples or make friends according to your status. They also taught our children not to spoil the reputation which has been developed by forefathers from a long time in our society.
Third, comes the role of Gram Pradhan of the village as they are the head of the village they have to keep sensitizing people about government programmes, policies and initiatives to uplift Dalits. They can also perform Nukkad Natak to create awareness regarding not to treat Dalits as untouchable.
Fourth, comes the role of NGOs, those were intending to elevate the Dalits at their right stature. As non-governmental organizations totally work on the ground level by interacting with peoples at their village so they know what the real problem of these peoples. they can help the government to formulate laws and policies regarding Dalits.
Fifth, to upheld Dalits our industrialists can provide funds to students of this section under Corporate Social Responsibility. By doing such noble work they could help both governments as well as country to eliminate poverty which is prevalent in our society from a long time.
Society has to change their way of looking towards lower caste peoples. As there were cases when it was found that whenever lower caste people get some respect and prestige in society the people from upper caste felt riled up.
The status and stature of Dalits keep demeaning day by day. There are various reasons through which we can understand it. In society, they are still not getting that much share which even our Constitution has entitled them. Article 14, which states the right to equality just became rhetorics for political leaders but never seen implemented at the ground level. Society does not want to embrace them, few miscreants even think that they are born only to serve upper caste. If such trends continue, it would be very difficult for our country to achieve such excellence which it really deserves.
